Ability Panel

Everybody enjoys a good discussion, and discussion can lead to new understanding. That is the premise that brought The Ability Panel to life. Our students from “An Accessible Voice in Broadcasting”, athletes, community and business leaders with disabilities, are just some of the special guests we have on the show. How did you get to where you are today, what worked and what didn’t? Whether we are talking about holidays with family, employment or just getting around town, things some people take for granted, but can be a struggle to many. Those points and more are covered as this roundtable shows how different people can be, and how we react to similar situations. The Ability Panel provides an opportunity for voices less heard, an opportunity for an individual with a disability to have their say and help reduce social isolation and stigma. The Ability Panel will unite individuals with disabilities by presenting life as something we all get through. Join us for an in depth inspection of life with a disability, or many disabilities, and the darkness and hilarity that ensues as we explore our abilities and what we do with them.

Community Partners

As an individual with a disability, finding the people and organizations that can help with day to day life is of paramount importance. Individuals with disabilities are often isolated, lonely and susceptible to depression. Once in that mindspace it is difficult to climb out and be a part of society again. This leads to missing medications and doctor appointments, poor self care and things of that nature. Community partners is produced to help alleviate those concerns, by providing concise information relevant to an individual’s situation. Where to get help, how and who to ask for it, are there any restrictions? Questions such as those, and many more, are the focus of these thirty minute interviews to illuminate the people and organizations that do the everyday work with individuals with disabilities. The local organizations will derive increased program participation and engagement, while assisting them to increase awareness and recognition of the programs and services available to their clients. The shows will be included in the Voices 4 Ability show rotation, all V4A social media, as well as be available to the organization. By using a platform such as Voices 4 Ability radio, we have a foundation that is known to help spread information to our target demographic. This program will not only help the participants, but provide information to a world wide audience assisting any and all. This will provide a feeling of unity, knowledge of not being alone and increase the feeling of well being, self confidence, self esteem and self worth.
